Gloria G. Hahn Carter, age 69, of Panama City Beach, Florida, formally of Elwood passed away June 20, 2017 in Panama City, Florida after a short illness.
Gloria was born on November 27, 1947 in Madison County, Indiana to Sylvester (Vessie) R. and Wavalyn Guydana (Danni) Smith Hahn. She attended Elwood schools and graduated from Wendell L Willkie High School with the class of 1966. Gloria served in the US Navy from 1966 to 1968. She retired after 20 years from Ryder Truck, Inc. in Miami, FL as a purchasing agent and formally worked at Zoo World, Panama City Beach. Gloria enjoyed reading, genealogy, playing the slots, outings with her girls night out group and especially time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Harry “Steve” Cater of Panama City Beach, whom she married on October 9, 1968, a daughter, Janelle (Tony Motisi) Amos, of Hollywood, FL, son Jeffrey (Gina) Carter, of Boca Raton, FL, 2 grand daughters, Jacqueline Amos of Cutler Bay, FL, and Ophelia Carter of Boca Raton, Florida and grandson Stephen Carter, of Boca Raton, Florida. Also, 2 sisters Sylvia “Cookie” (Doug) Arnold, and Becky (Bill) Capps both of Elwood and 2 brothers Sylvester “Butch” Hahn, Jr, of Elwood and Mark (Penny) Hahn of Shepherdsville, KY and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and her beloved bird and dog. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wavalyn Diane Hahn.
A celebration of life with the family will be Saturday, July 22 at 1PM at Joy Christian Church 529 South A Street, Elwood with the Rev. Mark Hahn and other siblings officiating.
