Fred D. Abernethy, 87, of Newton, was a son to the late Olin and Nannie Caldwell Abernethy. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Daniel Abernethy, George Abernethy, Loy Abernethy and Alvin Abernethy; sisters, Marie Abernethy-Stallings and Ruby Abernethy-Sigmon.
Fred was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. He served in the United States Army and retired as a General Manager with Carolina Glove Company after 65 years of service. Fred enjoyed farming and gardening.
Interment in Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church Cemetery, Maiden.
