Mary O'Leary was the oldest daughter of Daniel O'Leary, a well known pedestrian who won many walking competitions and set records, and his wife, Ann Boland O'Leary. Both her parents were born in Ireland. Her father was born in County Cork. Mary had two sisters and a brother and never married. She retired from the Oak Park school district after 30 years as a school nurse. She died at the age of 91 at St. Andrews Home for the Aged, 1700 N. Newark, Niles, Illinois.
