Buford died Feb. 22, 2007, in Iraq. Born March 18, 1983, in Houston, he was the son of Janet Fields Buford and Anthony Wayne Buford. Survivors include his parents, Anthony Buford of New Braunfels and Janet Buford of Douglass; sisters, Candice Buford of Douglass and Whitney Jackson of Nacogdoches; grandparents, Joe and Carolyn Fields; and great-grandmothers, Minnie Bogle and Minnie Fields. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone write a letter to a soldier to let them know how much their sacrifice means.

died of injuries suffered when
an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq, on Feb. 22.
