He worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement from Standard Paving. In earlier years, Don enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. In his retirement, he enjoyed his bridge games, television, sports, his dog, Angel, and watching his late grandson, Trevor Ettinger, play hockey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Madge (Burton); children, Edna Wardrope, Donnie (Kim) and Annette Urquhart (Michael). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Jason, Jenna, Christie and Lindsay. Don is also survived by his dear sister, Marion Jordan, Ottawa.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Trevor and sister, Claire Garby.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13, in St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upper Kennetcook, with Rev. William Herrington officiating. No visitation by request. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
