Maxine was employed as a civilian defense worker in CA, and was appointed in February 1946 as the Executive Secretary of the Nye County, NV, chapter of the American Red Cross.
Maxine married Calvin McCain, a career Navy man, in 1948. It is not known how long this marriage lasted, but she was carrying the McCain name in 1957, when her father passed away. Based on present knowledge, Maxine and Calvin had no children together. It also appears that Maxine may have remarried on 7 Jan. 1977, in Reno, NV, to Willie J. Stafford.
Maxine died in Tonopah, NV, in 1994, and was buried in Tonopah Cemetery, where her parents were buried years earlier. Her grave was, until recently, unmarked, as she had no survivors at the time of her 1994 death. That has now changed, with the 2017 addition of a headstone by Maxine's birth granddaughter, the daughter of Mitzi Nadine Booth, the child Maxine gave up for adoption in 1940. Maxine's granddaughter found her birth grandmother, who she never got to meet in life, and honored her by arranging for her grave to be marked with a headstone. Despite many obstacles, the family circle was re-connected.
Maxine's first husband, Wayne Joseph Booth, is buried in CA, and her second husband, Calvin McCain, is buried elsewhere in Nevada.
