Peggy was born to Clarence and Della Curtis in Alliance Nebraska and grew up at Lone Rock in Seabeck, WA with her two younger brothers, Darvin and "Bud" Curtis. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School and resided in Bremerton until her death.
Peggy was the loving and supportive wife of the love of her life, Arthur K. Hegtvedt, who preceded her in death in 1995. Peggy's life was always focused on her family, her husband and children were always put first. She was a proud and devoted mother of her three children, active as a leader in Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, sporting teams and she served several terms as PTA president. She was a gifted homemaker and her time revolved around family activities. As her kids grew older and began to graduate from school Peggy returned to the workforce where she was the head bookkeeper for the PSNS Officer's Club for many years. Peggy loved dancing with her husband as well as time spent with the family and their many friends. She was also very artistic and demonstrated that skill in her pottery and ceramic projects.
Peggy was an exceptionally creative cook and every meal was a treat, and on holidays she served marvelous banquets for her family. Another passion was her love of gardening and she became a Master Gardener, her family and friends used to joke that she could put a stick in the ground and make it grow. After her husband Art's retirement they enjoyed travelling around the country.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Kenneth L. Hegtvedt (wife Janet), James J. Hegtvedt (wife Keri), and daughter Karen Sue Wilson, as well as 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at 11:00am on May 13th, 2017 at Grace Community Presbyterian Church, 1305 Ironsides Ave, Bremerton 98310.
