Gerlad T. Powers, 71, died Wed., Jan. 8, 1986 after a long illness. Born June 7, 1914, in Blue River, Wis., son of Charles E. and Maggie Gore Powers. Lived most of his life in Rockford. Married the former Alice L. Carlson in Rockford, Oct. 31, 1933. employed 39 years by Rockford Drop Forge, retiring in 1977. Member Bethlehem Lutheran Church and former member Rock River Volunteer Fire Department. Attended Rock River schools.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son, Charles E., three daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Violet) Wallen; Mrs. Denver (Janet) Hopkins, and Mrs. Carol Price; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Smith, Mrs. Gene (Rosemary) Dautenhahn, Mrs. Freddie (Chairman) Knode, and Mrs. Lohrn (Shirley) Gorvy; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters.
