A memorial service was held Saturday in Christ Church in Hamilton for John Otis Thayer.
Mr. Thayer, 76, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease and hydrocephalus last Monday at his Ipswich home.
Mr. Thayer worked for I.T.E. Circut Breaker in Philadelphia and later in New York from 1951 until his retirement in 1974.
He joined the US Air Corps Ferrying Command of the North Atlantic Wing in 1941, serving on Presque Isle, Maine, as supply officer. In 1943, he was transferred to the Office of Strategic Services on Baker Street, London. He was decorated by King George VI for his outstanding services and awarded the Order of the British Empire.
Husband of: 1. Mary Elizabeth (Rickard) Thayer, and 2. Imogen Cathcart-Jones Thayer.
