Emerson E. Cove, 86, of Wales Township, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 in his home of natural causes. His wife, Alta L. Knapp Rollins Cove, 79, also died at home the following day, November 11, 2001 after an extended illness.

Mr. Cove was born April 28, 1915 in Wales Township to the late Samuel and Leota Estella (Baldwin) Cove. He married Henrietta M. Maas, June 15, 1941. She died June 7, 1986.

Alta L. Knapp Rollins Cove was born November 10, 1921 in Petoskey to the late John and Bertha (Ketoskey) Knapp. She married Arthur M. Rollins on February 26, 1943 in Soda Springs, Idaho. He died March 12, 1985.

Emerson and Alta were married on April 10, 1988 in Boyne City.

Mr. Cove was a farmer and an active member of the Blue Water Seventh Day Adventist Church.

They are survived by his daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Paul (Rhoda) Layman of Berrien Springs; her daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Lawrence of Berkshire, Massachusetts; his grandson, Benjamin; her two grandsons, Orion & Frank Lawrence; his sister, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd (Fern) Pelton of Berrien Springs; his nephew, Robert Pelton; her three brothers, Earl Knapp of Rogers City, Harry Knapp of Boyne City and Russell Knapp of Grand Haven; her two sisters, Ora Baker of Rogers City and Mary Hutchinson of Boyne City; and her many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cove was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary.

Funeral services will be held jointly at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2001 in Blue Water Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1365 Sixth Street, Marysville. Pastor Barry DeWitt will officiate.

Mr. Cove will be buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Wales Township. Mrs. Cove will be buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Wales Township.
