It is said that when Benjamin Earle's son John enlisted in Army, and took ill with
small pox, his father went for him, but both died of the disease. At his unexpected
death his wife Deborah was not provided for and the children, Antipas and Newell
Earle made provisions for her. (Her daughter Mercy with Edward Slade was married to
