EAGLES, Fletcher Charles - 78, 109 Crescent Dr., New Minas, died June 4, 1993, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Highbury, Kings County, he was a son of the late Harry and Minnie (Bishop) Eagles. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Air Force and a retired building contractor. Active in the community, he served as scout leader and as a hockey coach and was a member of New Minas Baptist Church, serving on various committees. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by three daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Wayne Hamlin), Judi (Mrs. Joseph McHugh), Sandra, all of New Minas; two sons, Daniel, Kentville; Ronald, Toronto; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Annie Phelan; five sisters, Myrtle, Vera, Eva, Laura, Clara; three brothers, Merlin, Wilfred, Howard; a grandson. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home, Kentville. Funral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in New Minas Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. John Weiler and Rev. Dr. Freeman Fenerty officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses or Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
