Charles Wilbur Hite, 95, of Bloomery, WV died on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Envoy of Winchester.
Charles was born on August 5, 1921 in Bloomery, WV, the son of the late John Delbert and Lena B. Hawkins Hite. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by a grandson: Darren Hite; two brothers: Paul Wesley & Harry Wilson Hite and a sister: Hazel Leru Herron.
Charles was both a farmer and timberman, a member of the Laurel Hill United Brethren Church, Winchester Gun Club and the Bloomery Hunt Club. He had a love of hunting, later in life four-wheeler riding and most of all being with his family.
Charles married Mary K. “Kate” Omps Hite on May 2, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD. Kate died on November 18, 2012.
Surviving is a son: David Allen Hite and his wife Judy; a daughter: Joan Hite Whitacre and her husband Philip all of Bloomery, WV; two sisters: Anna Lorraine Erskine of Elkhorn, WI; Mary Jane McDonald of Whitacre, VA; four grandchildren: Gregory Hite (Linda), Terri Gibson (Mark), Julie Omps (Rodney) and Paul Whitacre (Carolyn) and eight great-grandchildren: Kristie Hite, Ricky & Randy Cook, Makayla and Matthew Gibson, Katherine & Morgan Omps and Charles Whitacre.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge at 2 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Morris and David Omps. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Gore, VA.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 5-8 PM.
