LeRoy J. "Max" Schnell, age 90, a Newton resident, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein.He was born on November 22, 1926 in Manitowoc, son of the late Ernest and Emma (Vogt) Schnell. LeRoy was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1947. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1944 until 1946. On June 20, 1953 he married the former Bernice Dittmann at St. John St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland. LeRoy was employed at Mirro - Foley for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping with family. LeRoy always enjoyed a good Sheepshead game. He was also a founding member of Van's Athletic Club.Survivors include his wife: Bernice Schnell; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Rodney Schnell & special friend Cecelia Feltes, Jon & Jean Schnell; one daughter and son-in-law: Joanne & John Menz; three grandchildren: Andrew Schnell and special friend Katie Anderson, Ryne Schnell, Melissa Schnell; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Henry (Beverly) Dittmann, Arline Haese; a godson: Randy Dittmann; and his extended family: Kevin, Erica, Kyle & Hannah Feltes; Brian, Nicole, Jonathan & Molli Feltes; Rhonda, Kaitlyn & Jadyn Deehr; Tracy, Don, Josh & Jessica Sabrowski; Glenn & Guiping Gu Feltes. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest & Emma Schnell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Walter & Hertha Dittmann; a brother-in-law: Ronald Haese; and a special cousin: Richard Vogt.The family will greet relatives and friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 until 10:45 a.m.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Daniel Sims with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion-Drews Bleser Post #88.
