John Bell Hood III is the son of John Bell Hood II and Margaret T McManus, and the great-grandson of Lt. Gen. John Bell Hood.

John Bell Hood III died at "10:30 o'clock at the Clarksdale hospital following an accident inflicting injuries from which the dear little boy succumbed ..." This news article indicates that the boy is "the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bell Hood, of Matagorda ... and his little brother Robin Hood." (He was crushed in a shaft at a sawmill.)

His younger brother, James Robinson "Robin" Hood, b. 26 Jan 1925 in Memphis, TN, and died 22 Feb 1987 in Gulfport, Miss., began using the name John Bell Hood.

People often mix the two brothers up or assume it is one person; it is not. The 1930 Census shows Margaret and son Robin, 5, living in Coahoma and the 1940 Census shows John Bell Hood, 69, wife Margaret, 65, and son Robin living in Coahoma.

Robin Hood uses his brother's name in 1942 for his World War II draft card.

Robin Hood, aka John Bell Hood, is F.A.G. memorial 76167466 and is listed as John Bell Hood III, which is the name he is buried under. His headstone provides both birth and death dates, showing it is clearly not the same person as his older brother.
