Sharon “Docca” Kay Blake, 72, of Terre Haute, formerly of Montezuma, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded her by family on Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was born April 19, 1944 in Eddy County, North Dakota to Engar Nokelby and Alma Simonson Nokelby.
Docca was the type of person that would light up the room with her fun-loving and witty personality. She never met a stranger and was kind to everyone. Although she had many friends, her family was everything to her. She was the rock that held everything steady.
Docca enjoyed bingo, cards and basically having fun with family and friends. She loved classic country and knew the words to every song that was played. She was a hard worker and role model to those who loved and knew her. Once she got to know someone, she considered them a friend for life.
Together again with her beloved husband, Merle; God has gained another angel in his kingdom. Her brother, Milton Nokelby, considered it an honor that she entered heaven on his 74th birthday. In a fitting end, Uncle Mitty said a prayer just prior to her last breath.
While we are sad that we will not see her physically or have that unconditional love from our mom, we know that she is now free from the pain that consumed her for the past six years. She was brave and fought for every breath. We will see our loving, beautiful mother again and she will be enjoying heaven with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Johnny Hagen; step-father, Harold Monk; a son, Thomas; brother, Adrien Nokleby; her husband, Merle Blake; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by one daughter, April and Paul Trench of Terre Haute; five sons, Timothy and Bobbi Hann of Springhill, FL, Bill and Jane Hann of West Terre Haute, David Blake of Brazil, Jeff and Ted Wilson of Terre Haute, and Brian Blake of Ferndale; 10 grandchildren, Tyler Trench, Brittany Stigler, Preston Blake Hann, Elijah Hann, Blake Hann, Jessica and Brian Mount, Jacki and Justin Vandivier, Jami and Keith Morris, Devon and Molly Blake, Brandon and Sarah Blake; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Milton “Mitty” and Mary Nokelby of New Rockford, North Dakota; one sister, Sandie and Roger Odden of Minnewaukan, North Dakota; three sister-in-law’s, Myra and Michael Todd of Montezuma, Marjorie and Don Judson of Cicero, IL, and Becky Trittipo of Lafayette; and one brother-in-law, Marion Blake of Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 10-2 on Wednesday at Brown-Mack Funeral Home with services to begin at 2 with Reverend Keith McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
