Thomas Henry Quantrill was born on 19 February 1813, in Hagerstown, Washington, Maryland. He was the son of Capt. Thomas Quantrill ( 1785 MD - 1862 Washington D.C.) and Judith Ann Heyser (1784 MD - 1830 Washington, D.C.). He married Caroline Cornelia Clarke on 11 October 1836, in Chambersburg, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania. They were the parents of 8 children. In 1837, his occupation is listed as teacher and later the first principal of canal dover school in Dover, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio. He died on 7 December 1854, in Dover, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, at the age of 41, and was buried in Dover, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio.
