Alice Keen Stegall Ashby, 96, of Martinsville, Va. passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born January 18, 1921 to the late Joseph Daniel Keen and Mattie Clay Keen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Everette Stegall; second husband, Rev. John Junior Ashby; sisters, Frances K. Roach, Edna K. Barker, Belva K. Ashby, and Viola K. McMillan; and brothers, J.D. Keen, Everett Keen, and Jesse Keen.
Mrs. Ashby was a member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church and later was baptized in the Primitive Baptist faith.
She is survived by her daughter Linda S. Lavinder and husband Carl of Martinsville, Va.; son, James Irvin Stegall and wife Myra of Stuart, Va.; step-daughters, Peggy Barnes of Martinsville, Va. and Linda A. Secrest of Martinsville, Va.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday July 6, 2017 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Dr. Joey McNeill officiating. Visitation will be held 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
