Regina Braun was born on July 30, 1920, in Ipswich, South Dakota to Adam and Mary A. (Jochim) Braun. Regina was raised and grew up on a farm in Ipswich with ten brothers and sisters.
After graduating from high school in South Dakota and heading west to Oregon; she found work as a welder in the Portland shipyards in support of the WWII war effort. Regina married Samuel E. Arneson on April 6, 1945. The two settled in North Portland, began a family, and remained there for nearly their entire 64 years of marriage. They had five children: Sharon, Keith, Wayne, Rick and Lori. Following her time as a welder in the shipyards, Regina worked in Oregon/Pendleton Woolen Mills. Eventually, settling into the position of a baker for the Portland School District, which she held for 15 years before retiring.
Throughout the course of their marriage, Regina and Sam remained devoted members of Queen of Peace Parish in North Portland. They spent extensive time outdoors with their family camping, fishing, gardening, and golfing. The two also did quite a bit traveling to places like New York, Florida, Bermuda, London, Alaska and the Caribbean. Sam was from North Dakota, so the two would travel to the Dakotas to visit their respective families.
Regina is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Sam; her parents Adam and Mary; eight brothers and sisters; and her son Keith. She is survived by daughter Sharon Gerlach of San Diego, CA; son Wayne Arneson of Portland, OR; son Richard Arneson of Seattle, WA; and daughter Lori Arneson of Lake Oswego, OR; brothers, August Braun of Sioux Falls, SD and Steve Braun of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by three grandchildren Christopher Gerlach of Mountain View, CA; Samantha Weinstein of Memphis, TN; and Alexandra Arneson of Walla Walla, WA.
A private ceremony will take place to celebrate Regina's life. She will be laid to eternal rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens, Garden of Everlasting Life.
