Adah Emily Broady Rivera, 92, died Nov. 24, 2001 in Mountain Home, AR. She was born in Lisbon, MI on Aug 5, 1909 to Mary and George Broady, both medical doctors, the youngest of two girls, and sister to four brothers.
She was a light and inspiration to all. Her life was exemplary in giving herself to her family and all that met her. Her spiritual faith and belief was cause for all that met her to be uplifted and filled with God's love. She was the matriarch of the Rivera family and was the glue that held them all together through all the challenges of life the family faced. The world has lost one of its true treasures in the passing of this exceptional woman. Her daily optimism was sunshine on a cloudy day. She had studied and obtained a master's degree in sacred music from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She sang and played piano and organ for many churches throughout the United States. She also taught hundreds of boys and girls over the years with private voice and piano lessons. She gave up the promise of a great performing career to raise her four boys. Later in life she was a nurse and gave great assistance and comfort for elderly people in nursing homes as well as private care. Her greatest passion was spreading the word of God and ministering to folks. Teaching the Bible, teaching sacred music, and counseling the afflicted gave her such joy. Her study, research, and investigation of the sacred name of Yahvah and Yahshuah helped to enlighten Christian believers as to the true names of our dear Savior and Lord God. All across the world, she would give her knowledge as well as monetary contributions and tithes to help in this work. Many times she would gladly sacrifice her material comforts for that of Missionary work. If any human can be thought of as Angelic in her purpose, it was Adah Broady Rivera. We will miss her so much. We all were so fortunate to have lived on this earth with this dear lady.
Survivors include her sons, J. George Rivera and wife, Mary of Gepp, AR; Paul E. and wife, Garciella of California; and Phillip A; six grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose V. Rivera of 57 years of marriage; her dear son, Arthur S., who died some 29 years ago; and all of her sisters and brothers. Graveside services were at Pickren Hall Cemetery at Gepp, AR, Nov. 27, 2001, with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, AR.
