Born in Ft. Bragg, NC, the son of James D. and Patricia N. (Gautreaux) Hentz of Tallahassee, FL. Jim was a 1990 graduate of Florida State University, a brother of the Florida Epsilon chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and earned his law degree from Massachusetts School of Law in 2003. He proudly served with the U. S. Army during the Gulf War.
An eight-year resident of Upton and previously of Bellingham, he was a former president of the Upton Men's Club, a member of the United Chamber of Commerce in Worcester, the Worcester Property Owners Association, Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni, and a former member of the Bellingham Conservation Commission. He was an ardent fan of FSU sports.
In addition to his wife of 20 years and his parents, Jim leaves two daughters, Annabelle Leigh and Kiara Rae Hentz of Upton; a sister (-in-law), Jazmin Valianti and her husband Michael of Upton; an aunt; Panama Juarez and her two sons, Rogelio and Juan Pablo; two brothers, David M. Hentz and his wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA, and John D. Hentz and his wife Robin of Tallahassee, FL; and nine nieces and nephews, Shane, Jade, and Preston Dougherty of Upton, Eric and Matthew Valianti of Mendon, Stuart and Gregory Hentz of Atlanta, and Blair and Johnny Hentz of Tallahassee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8, from the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton, with a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St., Upton.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
