Hugo J LaCroix

Hugo J. LaCroix, age 80, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, formerly of 2215 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 22, 1999 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center Manitowoc, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 1999 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Gerald Foley with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum in the town of Kossuth.

He was born Oct. 2, 1918 in Kiel, a son of the late Paul and Matilda Kautzer LaCroix.

On Sept. 2, 1940, he married the former Helen Schneider at St. Fidelis in Spring Valley. Hugo and Helen owned and operated a hog and dairy farm in town of Newton, retiring to Manitowoc in 1976. He was a charter member of the Wisconsin Feeder Pig Marketing Co-op and served on the Valders School Board and St. Isidore's Church board.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Manitowoc, five sons and four daughters-in-law; Ronald and Bette LaCroix of Oak Creek, Kenneth and Kathy LaCroix of Sheboygan, Richard and Mary LaCroix Brownsburg, Ind., John LaCroix of Manitowoc, Paul and June LaCroix of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law; Kathleen and Joseph Deigan of Sonoma, Calif., and Cheryl and Michael Butz of Manitowoc; 18 grandchildren; Andrea, Christa, Deanna, Marcia, Kari, Kelley, Christopher, Damian, Jessica, Lindsay, Sarah, Joshua, Genevieve, Allison, Courtney, Jacob, Heidi, and Danielle; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Ruth LaCroix of Cleveland, and one sister, Veronia Williams of New Holstein.

Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen, one grandson, Brian, and one sister, Mildred.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Sunday visitation.

Hugo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed playing sheepshead, dancing, and speeding time with his family and friends.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
