Long time resident of Queen Anne, Maryland was 79. Son of Lubow Trutowska and Michajlo Tscherewko/Cherewko. His family immigrated to America in 1949, and in 1954 they fulfilled their American dream, and purchased their family farm in Queen Anne. After graduating Centreville High School in 1957, he continued his studies at the former Towson State College, graduating in 1961 with a Degree in Education. He then earned his Master's Degree in Education from Loyola College in 1973. After graduation, Eugene became a Science and Math teacher at Stemmers Run Middle School in Essex, Maryland.
After retirement, he built himself a home on the family farm, where he enjoyed tending to an expansive garden. He especially enjoyed his tomato plants. He was also a cooking enthusiast and enjoyed preparing many wonderful meals for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Cherewko, daughters, Tanya Maguire and Larisa Frankoski. Son, Gregory Cherewko, sister, Nadia Schlotzhauer, five granddaughters and one grandson. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Tamara Petroff, an his ex-wife.
Ukrainian Orthodox funeral service was held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., in Easton, Maryland. Friends were able to pay their respects one hour prior. Burial then followed next to other family members, in Spring Hill Cemetery.
