Paul S. Pate, 91, of Roanoke, Va., most recently a resident of
Virginia Veterans Care Center, Roanoke, Va., went to be with the
Lord on Thursday, January 15, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Pauline R. Pate;
parents, Emmitt and Lera Ann Pate; and brother, Samuel D. Pate.
Surviving are his daughter, Joyce Spiers and husband, Gary;
sons, Steve Pate and wife, Rita, and David Pate and wife, Linda;
grandchildren, Sarah Spiers and husband, Rick, Gary Spiers Jr.,
Mary Pate, Ryan Pate, and Morgan Pate; great-grandson, Scott
Ratliff; many nieces; and a nephew.

Paul was a veteran who served in Europe during World War
II. Paul's hobbies included outdoor activities like gardening,
hunting and camping. Paul will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Oakey's North Chapel,
Roanoke at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, with the Rev.
Connie Burkholder officiating. Interment will follow at Blue
Ridge Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from
2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015, at
Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237. www.oakeys.com
