She was born on Oct. 9, 1950 in Pittston, the only child of the late Joseph and Petrina DeAlba Leonardi.
Josie graduated from Pittston Area High School, Class of 1968.
She was a legal secretary for Atty. Michael Butera for 34 years.
Josie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill Howley.
Surviving are her children, daughter, Erin and husband, Gene Marks; son, Keith and husband, Phillip Halliday; grandchildren, Layla and Geno Marks.
Josie was an active member of the Greater Pittston Women's Network. She enjoyed going to the casino with her good friend Patty, yearly trips to Cape May and Dewey Beach, spending time with good friends and family and keeping her circle of friends informed on the comings and goings in the Greater Pittston area which lead to her nickname, "Scoop." Above all, Josie took the greatest pleasure in being a grandmother to her "dollies," Layla and Geno, whom she loved to the moon and back.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Compassionate Care Hospice, especially
Lindsey and Marina, who helped to ensure Josie was happy and comfortable during these last 9 months.
