DORIS M. HOPSON
(1928 - 2017)

Mom has gone to be with Dad. Her struggles with dementia are over and she is free. The good Lord took her home on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the age of 88.

Doris was the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Funk) Schepper. She was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Two Rivers, Wis., attending St. Lukes Elementary and Washington High School, class of 1947. She worked at the M & M, SS Kreske Co. and Montgomery Wards, where she met and married James H. Hopson on March 25, 1948.

Following a brief move to Sheridan, Wyoming, Doris returned to Two Rivers, where her work included Mirro Aluminum Goods, Hamilton Mfg. Co, Paragon Electric, Flemals Tots to Teen, General Telephone and the Two Rivers Hospital. During this time, she and Jim raised four children, Cheryl Hopson, De Pere, Wis.; Michael (Jean) Hopson, Fairview, Texas; Joan (Jim) Kowalski, Newberry, Fla.; Gary (Cheryl) Hopson, Weston, Wis.

With the family grown and most on their own, Doris and Jim began an adventure of moves to Port Washington, Wis., Tucson, Ariz., Bismark, N.D., Manitowoc and De Pere. By now the family included seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Jimmy (Alex, Nick, Elizabeth), Jerrod, Jill (Parker and Emma) Kowalski, Timothy (Michael, Matthew, Zachary), Bonnie (Lana) Hopson, Ryan (Cadence and Norah), Kyle (Benjamin, Abigail, Asher) Hopson.

Doris is survived by three sisters, Virginia Knipfer, Betty Ellett and Janice (James) Mitchell; many nieces and nephews and a very dear lifelong friend, Lois Cowling.

Preceding her in death are one sister, Janet Collins and her husband, Walter; her only brother, Clarence Schepper and his wife, Leona, their son, Tommy and their daughter, Christina; one brother-in-law, Ivan Knipfer; plus many close Two Rivers friends, from "the old neighborhood'.

Family and friends may gather at Knollwood Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 1500 State HWY 310, Manitowoc, on Thursday, July 13 from 10:00am until the time of service at 10:30am. Entombment will be held at Knollwood Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.

Doris' family would like to thank all of her kind and caring doctors who treated her with so much dignity and respect in her senior years. Most recently to Heartland Hospice Care for helping us all through a difficult time. But our deepest gratitude goes to the angels here on earth who work at Alpha Senior Concepts in Suamico. The love and care and compassion you all showered on our Mom will be carried in our hearts forever. God Bless all of you.
