BATON ROUGE, LA - Born June 16, 1919 in Downsville. She resided in Ansley from 1925 to the end of the Korean War, then moved to the West Bank of Jefferson Parish until 1978. She spent the remainder of her life as a resident of Baton Rouge. She worked for the U.S. Post Office from 1945-1969. During the early days of World War II, she served in the WAAC which became the WAC. She was a 50 year member of the William D. White Chapter #141 of the Order of Eastern Star in Gretna.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Tommy & Connie Rogers; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Jennifer Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Curtis Rogers; parents, Thomas E. & Ella Davis Terry; brothers, Ernest A. Terry, Thomas Elmer Terry & his wife Sarah; sisters, Theresa Ella Tyler & her husband Clyde, Johnnie Lampkin & her husband Sam.

She was a tireless worker for the Lord, a Sunday School teacher, choir director, director of numerous pageants and dramas at St. James Methodist Church of Harvey. She attended Church of the Way Presbyterian of Baton Rouge where she was an elder and choir member. She also sung in the Saints Alive Choir at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Her early ambition was to go to seminary and become a Methodist minister alongside her best friend, the late Rev. Lea Joiner of Monroe.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Gerald Militello and his loving & caring staff, the doctors and staff of Mary Bird Perkins, Hospice of Baton Rouge especially to Pauline, Vickey, Jennifer, Felicia, Michele and volunteers Jill and Courtney.

Visitation will be at Rabenhorst F.H. East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 5:00 p.m. Friday until the religious service in the funeral home chapel at 6:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Ted Rowling and Dr. Stella Righteous. On Saturday, there will be a 2:00 p.m. service at Ansley Union Church. Interment will be at Ansley Union Cemetery in Ansley, Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
