He was the son of George and Ellenor Postlewaite Voss. He married Edith A. Retrum June 21, 1935, in Whitewater, Wisconsin. She died in October 1998. He and his wife farmed on Big Foot Prairie most of their lives. After moving to Walworth, he drove school bus, sold real estate for the Rauland Agency, was assessor for the Towns of Walworth and Linn and served as a trustee on the Walworth Village board. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Walworth, the Order of the Eastern Star and Walworth Masonic Lodge.
