Bobbie Jean received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Central Arkansas, formerly Arkansas State Teachers College. She taught English her first years for the Mansfield School District before taking a position as librarian for the Hartford School District where she worked until her retirement in 2004, a total of 44 years. She was active in the Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Hartford Alumni Association, Bible Study Fellowship, local Bible study groups and as a member of Midland First Baptist Church for over 70 years. Bobbie Jean loved reading, Bible study, puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren and many church activities including singing in the choir. She was a life-long learner.
Funeral service was held at Midland First Baptist Church with interment at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Bobbie Jean is survived by her husband of 58 years, Homer Michael; one daughter, Amy and Phil Hobbs of Mayflower; one son, Todd and Angie Michael of Midland; six grandchildren, Joshua Hobbs, Joel Hobbs, Jonathan Hobbs, Katie (Michael) Bucella, Travis Michael, Sarah Michael; three great grandsons, Payton Harris, Rhett Bucella and Elliot Hobbs; one sister, Betty June and James Moninger of Waldo, Florida; one brother, Roger and Susan Dake of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were her nephews, David Michael, Greg Michael, Gene Mort, Michael Mort and Robert Dake.
