Rev. Nathaniel Rogers was Mr. Moodey's successor at Portsmouth, and was ordained there, 3 May 1699. Mr. Rogers, of Portsmouth, was graduated at Harvard College in 1687.

Rev Nathaniel Rogers departed this life on the 3d of October, and was buried in the ancient burial ground, usually called the Point-of-Graves. A monument was erected over his grave, with a slate inserted in the top, on which was inscribed the epitaph noted (transcribed by Harvard University President Ezra Stiles while preaching at Portsmouth in the time of the Revolutionary War).
