Joseph and Martha married

In 1730 Joseph joined the Artillery Company and became First Sergeant in 1738.
In 1745 he joined the Colonial army for the siege of Louisburg being commissioned adjutant in the first Massachusetts regiment of Honorable William Pepperell.
On March 12, 1745 he became Colonel.
On March 20, 1745 he became Captain (brevet).
