BENSON – Betty A. Heineke, 88, died at 9:55 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.

She was born Dec. 9, 1928, in Benson, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth McDonell Brockling. She married Lyle P. Heineke on Aug. 9, 1947, in Minonk. He died June 4, 2014.

Survivors include two sons, Paul (Julie) Heineke and Bruce Heineke, both of Benson; two daughters, Pam (Terry) Micheletti, Danvers and Beth (Walt) Deehring, Peoria; 12 grandchildren, Eric (Kim) Micheletti, Heidi (Tom) Felstead, Erin (Neal) Douglas, Neil (Erica) Heineke, Dawn (Dave) Alford, John (Jessica) Heineke, Jeremy (Amy) Rocke, Valerie (Cory) Olson, Justin (Sarah Wallace) Rocke, Leland (Christine) Deehring, Trisha (Mike) Haas and Dexter Heineke; 26 great-grandchildren with another on the way; one sister, Edith Miller, Normal and one sister-in-law, Wanda Ladendorf, Metamora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one grandson.

The couple owned/operated Heineke Electric in Benson for many years. Betty was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Benson, where she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society, a founding member of Tall Oaks Country Club, rural Toluca, and the Benson American Legion Post No. 454 Auxiliary in Benson. She loved golfing and playing cards. The couple enjoyed wintering in Florida for 30 years. Her husband was the love of her life and her happiest times were those spent with him.

Per her wishes, a private service will be held at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the church or to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
