Louise Folk Bryant Joyner, of Joyner Street, died Sunday, May 26, 2002 in Suffolk.

A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Junius Winfield and Cleopatra Rawls Folk. Mrs. Joyner was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she served as church secretary for two years. She was a member of the Chancel Choir for 55 years. She was a member and past president of the Woman's Fellowship, past president of the Ladies Star Class, member and past president of the Senior Citizen Club and member of the Stanley Circle. She retired from Leggetts Department Store as a buyer and divisional manager after 25 years. After retiring she served as hostess for Hill Funeral Home for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia B. Wise; two granddaughters, Lynda W. Stielow and Lisa W. Barber; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Jonathan Palmer. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Rescue Squad or to Bethlehem Christian Church. The family will be at 5152 N. Harbor Road, Suffolk. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
