Actually, Gene was born on a farm just inside Oklahoma (near Arkansas City, Kansas). The road that the farm house resided on was the Kansas/Oklahoma Border. The mail box was on the Kansas side of the road and the farm house was on the Oklahoma side of the road. The doctor who delivered Gene was from Arkansas City, Kansas and registered his birth certificate as being born in Arkansas City.

Gene Married June Belle Brown in 1940 Divorced 1965. They had three children:

Eugene Sampson Atkins Jr.
Leon Carroll Atkins
Rosalie Atkins


Gene Married Juanita Atkins and they had one Son:

John Joseph Atkins.
