The Carson City Gazette, Thursday, May 10, 1934

Lawson A. Bivins was born in the town of Clyde, state of New York, March 26,
1850. For about 50 years he lived in Hubbardston, Michigan, leaving there
fourteen years ago. He was united in marriage to Francenia Weeks, who preceded
him in death by forty years. To this union were born seven children, of whom
five are still living; Mrs. Jesse Kruger of Hubbardston, Fred of Belding, Mrs.
Audrey Harley of Coopersville, Mrs. Lucy Wright of Grand Rapids, and James of
Clare, Michigan. On June 28, 1920 he married Clara May Mercer of Toronto,
Canada, who survives him. He also leaves two brothers, Lester of Muskegon and
Elliott of Seattle, Washington. There are 17 grandchildren.

Death came to him at his home in Toronto, Saturday, May 5, 1934, and his body
was brought to Hubbardston for burial. The funeral service was held Monday at
the Hubbardston Methodist church, with the pastor officiating. Burial was in
the West Side cemetery.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock for Lawton Bivins at
the Methodist church, Rev. Floyd Drake officiating. Many out-of-town friends
and former residents attended the service. Among whom were Mrs. Mercer and
daughter of Toronto, Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mercer and family of Chicago,
Mrs. Etta Grill, Mrs. Al Mohrhardt, Mrs. Ida Morse, Mrs. Maude Murdock of
Lansing; Mrs. Mae Ellis, Mrs. Clara Bazell and Clara Campbell of Grand Rapids.
