Phylis M. Dalton, 92, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home.
Phylis Margaret Smith was born November 3, 1924 in Jasper County, MO to the late C.L. "Lonnie" Smith and Della A. (Seybert) Smith.
She graduated from Sarcoxie High School, Class of 1943. She then attended Joplin Junior College for two years and finished at Franklin Tech as a Nurse Practitioner. Phylis moved to California in 1959 and worked as a licensed vocational nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, Stockton, CA for 20 years, before returning back to Carthage in June of 1981. She was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Carthage.

Survivors include one brother, Clyde E. Smith, Kansas City, MO, two nieces, and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Irene Heisten and Helen Bickner.

Visitation will be held 1:30 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 803 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO 64836, with a service following the visitation at 2:30 pm. Rev. Loma Burrell will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
