Major Acorn had survived numerous Japanese air attacks while treating casualties on Bataan and Corregidor. She was at Clark Field at Manila, when the Japanese wiped out U.S air power in the Philippines. She spent five years in the South Pacific. After her return to this country she dedicated her life to paraplegic veterans.
