A 1953 graduate of Waynesboro High School, Jane was an active member of Episcopal Church Women in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She also served as the Executive Secretary to the Nurse Recruiter at NC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill and had a successful career as an administrator/owner of a Stanley H. Kaplan Educational Center in Durham, NC,in addition to raising three children.
Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Harry Brooks, Thomas Brooks; and a sister, Pauline Kreiner. She is survived by two sons, Henry Best and wife Annita of Emerald Isle, NC, Brooks Best and wife Janet of Winterville, NC and a daughter, Fleming Best of Hubert NC; five grandchildren, Jessie Chambers and husband David, Rachel Best, Emily Best, Rebekah Best, Lydia Best; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life was held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Swansboro, NC with Father Bert Eaton officiating.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc.; 2121 K Street NW, Suite 200; Washington, DC 20037-1830.
