FORMER CITY RESIDENT DIES AT AGE OF 93

Mrs. Clara Katherine Barnes, a former city resident died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Home, West Allis.

She was born July 29, 1876, in Mount Calvary a daughter of Mathias J and Marie Kommers Miesen. She was married to Fred Barnes on Oct. 24, 1904 at St. Mary’s Church, Fond du Lac.

Mrs. Barnes was a resident of this area all of her life until she moved to Milwaukee in 1943.

She was a former member of Calvary Parent’s Club, a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Altar Society, Third Order of St. Francis and a member of Cathedral Church of St. John in Milwaukee.

Her only survivor is one son, Wilfred Barnes of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 2, 1922 and one son, the Rev. Kenneth Barnes OFM Cap.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. The Rev. John H. Goebel will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Schramka Funeral Home 7841 W. Appleton Ave., Milwaukee and from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home here.

Funeral services for MRS. Clara Barnes, who died Monday, were held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church.

Concelebrating with the Rev. John H. Goebel were the Revs. Rupert Dorn of Detroit, Reynold Rynda of Milwaukee, Marius Noe of Marathon, Simeon Keogh of Appleton and Ambrose DeGroot of Milwaukee.

Pallbearers were Michael Miesen, Harold Mraz, Leo Koehn, Elmer Brennen, George Reska and Arthur Mossong. Members of the Altar Society and the Third Order of St. Francis attended in a body.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
