Larry Edward Goldman,74, of Mount Vernon, and formerly of Dix, passed away Thursday morning, July 27, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Larry attended Hopewell Grade School and graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School. He had worked at Precision and General Radiator. He was a dedicated member of the Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Mount Vernon, where he served in many positions, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1960 to 1964. Larry was an avid basketball fan and could be seen at many of the high school and grade school basketball games. He was also an avid fisherman.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Mount Vernon, with Pastor Steve Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the hour of service, on Saturday, at the church. Burial will follow at Pin Oak Cemetery, north of Sims, Illinois. Graveside military rights will be accorded by American Legion Post #141, of Mount Vernon. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary United Pentecostal Church, or the Mt. Vernon Township High School Basketball Program, and will be received at the church or the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix who is in charge of arrangements. He was born on May 5, 1943, the son of Lynn and Hazel (Jones) Goldman. On August 9, 1965, at Lebanon Baptist Church he married Iola Mae Creed, and she preceded him on November 24, 2014.
