Edith Helen Cannon, 94, passed away March 28, 2015, at her home in Hampton, VA. She was born November 26, 1920 in Grand Junction, Colorado to George and Helen Ramsey.

She grew up in Colorado where she met her first husband, John Affolter. After John's death, Edith moved to Corvallis, Oregon where she met her second husband, Jerry Cannon. From there, Jerry's academic career took the family to Athens, Greece. They returned to the U.S., settling on the east coast and finally in Hampton, and Edith returned to her work as a bank teller. Throughout her life, her family was her dearest accomplishment.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Karen Murphy and husband Rick Haigler, son John Affolter and wife Shelly Whitlock, daughter Kim Cannon, and son Todd Cannon and wife Anna, as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at noon on April 19 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 7415 River Rd in Newport News, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm. The family is grateful for condolences, but declines flowers and donations.
