THOSTENSON Clifford A. Clifford A. Thostenson, 88, of Pemberville, Ohio, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, in St. Charles-Mercy Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Clifford was born in Hartland, MN on July 22, 1918, to Helmer O. and Nora A. (Madson) Thostenson. He married Jeanne F. (Taylor) in Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Toledo, Ohio on May 25, 1963, and she survives. Clifford retired, after more than 40 years, as an Area Supervisor for the Sun Oil Company Refinery. He was an Army veteran of WWII part of the 20th Engineer Combat Battalion, serving in Northern Africa and Europe, being awarded 8 Bronze Stars. Clifford enjoyed the outdoors, especially his hunting trips to the woods of Montana and many fishing excursions. He was also a woodworker, making furniture and numerous other projects in his spare time. Clifford also was a life member of the American Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jeanne; children, Matt (Carol) Thostenson of South Lion, MI, Molly (Todd) Soviar of Perrysburg, OH and grandchildren, Katy Thostenson, Dakota and Wyatt Soviar. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents and half-sister, Nobie Thostenson. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Joe Ablett at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2006, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St. Genoa, OH. Interment will be in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, 2006, in the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Clifford's name be to Otterbein Portage Valley, Pemberville, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, or to the donor's choice.
