1888 - JAMES EARL JOINES - 1956
James Earl Joines, son of Frank and Rachael Sturgill Joines, was born September 3, 1S88, in Sparta, North Carolina, and passed away, while a patient in the Sioux Valley hospital in Cherokee, Iowa, July 23, 1956. As a youth he attended the public schools in North Carolina. In 1904, he tame to Iowa, and spent the years since in and around the Sutherland and Gaza communities.

On March 6, 1912, his marriage to Miss Ethel Siefkin took place in Sutherland. To them were horn two sons, Kembel and Lloyd. The family was engaged in farming through the years, from which he discontinued in January of the present year. For a period of time Mr. Joines served as a member of the Gaza school board.

Preceding him in death were his parents. Those who survive are his wife, Mrs. Ethel S. Joines of Sutherland, Iowa; their two sons, Kembel Joines of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and Lloyd Joines of Melvin Iowa; a brother, Percy Joines of Meriden, Iowa; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Baumgarten Funeral Home and the Sutherland Methodist church, Thursday afternoon, July 26, 1956, 2 p.m The Rev. Warren A. Bintz was in charge. Interment was made in the Waterman
Cemetery.
