Vera Jane Momsen was born April 28, 1924, in Newell, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Anna (Jacobsen) Momsen.

Vera was baptized in Algona, Iowa at the Methodist Church. She attended grade school in Sac City and attended Newell High School.

On September 3, 1945, Vera married Wayne Rabe at the Methodist Church in Sac City. Together, they were blessed with three children: Judy, Mary Lou, and Virginia.

On June 2, 1951, she married Franklin C. Morse in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Together they were blessed with three children: Linda, Calvin, and Douglas.

Vera was a hard worker. She worked in a Ben Franklin dime store in Sac City, Jackson’s Fruit Farm in Newell, Vilas turkey plant in Storm Lake for 16 years, Julius Cleaners, the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, the Spectra in Storm Lake, and at Ameri Host in Storm Lake. For over 40 years, she upholstered furniture on the side.

In her spare time, Vera enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidering. She also loved to dance at the Cobblestone in Storm Lake and the Lake View Ballroom. Vera spent a lot of time at the Storm Lake roller skating rink with her father and friends. In her last years, she learned to love a good game of Bingo. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Judy (Dick) Hartsell of Early, Iowa; Mary Lou (Farrell Lee) Sirovy of Ruthven, Iowa; Virginia (Keith) Dobler of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Linda Medsker of Alta, Iowa; Calvin (Jennifer) Morse of Aurelia, Iowa; Doug Morse of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren: Becky (Chris) Riedesel, Jacob (Crystal) Hartsell, Amanda (John) Weber, Brenda (Brian) Bjorum, Farrell Wayne Sirovy, Brett (Kerri) Sirovy, Kari Medsker, Jessie (Chris) Meyer, Cody (Jenny) Medsker, Wendy (Tom) Mooney, Nancy (Daniel) Kohler, Jenika (Justin) Stamer, Ashley (Scott) Wallin, Meg (Joe) Kissner, Emily Morse, Michael (Svannah) Morse, Victoria Morse, Desiree Morse; great grandchildren: Faith, Donald, John James, Justin, Aaron, Mackayla, Brooke, Gilbert, Courtney, Trenton, Krista, Brady, Kaitlin, Landon, Mackenzie, Trevor, Brooke, Sean, Olivia, Brock, Brendon, MaKenna, Jaelynn, Conner, Grace, Aisley, Maura, Olivia, Troy, Bently, Hunter, Wyatt, Kianna, Aaliyah, Nolan, extended family and friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin Morse; great-grandchild, Brianna Lynn Bjorum; sisters: Arlene (Bernard) Oakland, Mildred (Maurice) Hill; brother, Ronald (Betty) Momsen.
