Wally was born in St. Louis on November 18, 1933 to the late Walter and Melba (Koenanenn) Frerichs. He graduated high school in St. Louis and then served four years with the U.S. Coast Guard. On April 16, 1955, he married Nancy Kowalski at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Wally worked for many years as a mechanic for Riverview Auto and retired as a supervisor from Anheuser-Busch of Manitowoc after more than 30 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; son & daughter-in-law, Tim and Lori Frerichs of Fitchburg; three daughters & two sons-in-law, Tamra and Terry Hayes of Manitowoc, Kay Nickels of Two Rivers, Kim and Ken Cayemberg of Green Bay; three grandchildren: Nichole (Dennis) Merryfield, Amanda (Ross) Dietrich, and Jordan Nickels; one great grandchild, Jax Dietrich; and one sister, Jean Bennett of St. Louis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Frerichs, and by his mother & father-in-law, Kathleen and Sylvester Kowalski.
Private family services were held for Wally, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites were honored by members of VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers.
