Joseph Butterly, son of John Butterly and Hannah Butterly, formerly Fitzsimons, was born on 10 June 1865, at Baldoyle, Co. Dublin.
His father was a Shop Keeper and Coal Merchant.

Marriage.
Joseph Butterly, a bachelor, a Merchant, of Howth, son of John Butterly, a Coal Merchant, married Mary Teresa Quinn, a spinster, of Kildonan, Finglas, Co. Dublin, daughter of James Quinn, a Timber Merchant, on 6 September 1905, at St. Agatha's Church, North William Street, Dublin.
The witnesses were,

Mary Butterly.

In the 1911 census, the family were living at Howth, Co. Dublin.

Teresa, his wife, aged 28,
They had been married 5 years and had 4 children,
Joseph, son, aged 4,

Death.
Joseph Butterly, aged 71, married, a Retired Grocer, from Waterside, Howth, died at The Mater Hospital, Dublin, on 4 August 1936.
The cause of death was Intestinal Obstruction, 4 days, Heart Failure, certified.
His death was registered on 13 August 1936, by M. Butterly, widow of deceased, of Waterside, Howth, Co. Dublin.
