In lieu of flowers, the family invites her friends to make memorial contributions in her name to the charities of their choice.
May was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Union Springs, Ala., to the late Charliwill and Herbert Pearce of Columbus. She moved to St. Simons Island from Huntsville, Ala., in 1963. May was a longtime member of St. Simons Presbyterian Church, and was an active member in the TOC Class. May had a deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ and the teachings of the New Testament.
She is survived by her children Norma K. Lilly of Austin, Texas, Andrew D. Korb and his wife, Susan Popper Korb, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and M. Alan Korb and his wife, Mary Kay Cummins, of Ponte Vedra Beach. She is also survived by her grandsons, John O. Lilly of Sunnyvale, Calif., David Lilly of Austin, Drew Korb of Chicago, Ill., Pearce Korb of Atlanta, and Blake Korb, Harrison Korb, Chandler Korb, Kitty Thornton, and Jamie Brittingham, all of Ponte Vedra Beach. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Grace Lilly of Austin and Lana Thornton of Ponte Vedra Beach; her two great-grandsons, Evan Lilly of Austin and Sam Lilly of Sunnyvale; and by her dear friend and companion of more than 20 years, Jack Kalb of St. Simons Island.
May will be remembered for her longtime love of books and reading. She opened and operated the Shorebird Bookstore on St. Simons Island for 18 years. For eight years she was employed at Charter-by-the-Sea as a medical secretary. In later years, she worked for the G. J. Ford Bookstore on St. Simons Island for 12 years until her health issues obliged her to retire.
"Eternal rest grant unto her, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and Oglethorpe Crematorium.
