Shella Pearl Atwood Terry of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. Born on July 10, 1931, in Casey Co., she was a daughter of the late Elmer Lester and Pearl Allen Atwood. She was 86.
Shella loved her children and grandchildren. She was a kind hearted and loving “Granny” and “Mom.” Shella also enjoyed fishing. She grew up in Carr’s Chapel First Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki (Larry) Burton of Liberty; three sisters, Myrtle (Irvin) Miller of Moreland, Sally Salyers of Liberty and Geraldine (Jesse) Salyers of Liberty; six grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Allen, Amanda Allen, Michael (Bridget) Evans, Wayne Evans, Becky (Kevin) Larson and Leeshell Vaught. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shella is also preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Terry; a daughter, Arlene Allen Kidd; a sister, Adell Miller; two brothers, Shelby and Arthur Atwood; and a great-great grandchild, Aubrey Spalding.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. David Noe officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Allen, Isaac Allen, Michael Evans, Wayne Evans, AJ Vaught, Al Atwood, Jack Atwood and Wayne Atwood.
Arrangements are entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
