Elzie is survived by his wife, Khyva Lynn Akers Phipps; four children, Cynthia (Ray) Davis, Carolyn Phipps Simpson and husband Terry Wiser, Carrie (George) Winton and Jimmy D. Phipps and Lynn Atkinson; nine grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren.
