He was a native of Nelson County and former owner of the old Hoblitzell Insurance Agency. He was a member of the St. Matthews Masonic Lodge 106, Scottish Rite, High Twelve Club and Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Survivors: his wife, the former Irma Lear; a daughter, Anna K. Abell of San Diego, Calif.; a son, David S. Abell; and three grandchildren.
Funeral: 10 a. m. Saturday, Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation from 5 to 8 p. m. Friday.
Expressions of sympathy: church memorial fund or Masonic Widows and Orphans' Home.
